Did you know: wait staff do not work for tips? They work for clerics!

For quite some time now, Christian fundamentalists have been angering waiters and waitresses by leaving religious messages disguised as $20 bills as the tip.

The notes say that they can have something more valuable than money, which they claim is a belief in Jesus.

But to the servers who receive such a tip, it’s nothing more than a dirty trick that angers them. They worked hard attending to their customers in an effort to receive a well-earned tip that will help them pay the bills and put food on the table. A plain piece of paper masquerading as a $20 bill doesn’t help at all. If anything, it makes religious people look like a bunch of jerks...

Instead of just being angry, Craver actually did something about it. She looked up the church named on the fake $20, Harbor Baptist Church in Charlotte, and fired off an email to the pastor condemning the action and suggesting a Sunday sermon about fair monetary exchange.

Lots of people may not like the tipping system in the US, but that's how service people closeupready Feb 2016 #2
As long as the server didn't serve a steaming pile of shit, they shouldn't be tipped with it. NightWatcher Feb 2016 #3
It's not whether they can afford to eat out, but rather spreading "The Word" is more important GoneOffShore Feb 2016 #4

I'm retired and work a few hours a week delivering pizzas, just for a little extra beer and golf money.

Nothing warms my heart more than, after driving 4 miles through heavy traffic, in a rainstorm, using my gas and car, getting a $0.43 tip (the change from a $20) along with a hearty "God bless your soul".

make their livings, not praying that God will help them win the lottery, or help them strike oil in their backyards.

If you can't afford a proper tip, you can't afford to eat out.

As far as they're concerned.

Had I received something like that pamphlet when I was waiting tables, I would have chased them down the road and handed it back, along with a lecture about the workman being worthy of his hire.

Luckily the places I worked never attracted the Talibornagains.
