I don't buy it regularly since citrus is a migraine trigger for me. I had some guests staying at my house for the weekend, so I bought some . . . WOW! $7.00 for a jug of juice!

I recently bought asparagus and didn't notice that the price was up. Is it a regional thing?

A case of juicing oranges is about $50 WHOLESALE and a lot of oranges and labor go into making it.

We charge about $7 a GLASS. It is 100% natural with no concentrate. People don’t seem to mind paying for it (it’s really good), but it’s expensive to produce.

I can understand squeezing oranges. But I don't get this notion of squeezing the juice.

It reminds me of those idiots who buy hot water heaters. What's the point of that?

and, yeah, it's a LOT of work.
I 'built' an asparagus bed 20 years ago and, after waiting 2 years, started harvesting and that bed last 12 years!
Then it was overcome by weeds. Bugger.

The root crowns I planted last year should last about 20 years.

I could only watch it last year. This year I can cut a couple of pieces from each plant over two weeks. Next year I can harvest normally (as much as I want, 8-10 weeks).

Sadly I only planted half a bed last year. Each crown takes about a square foot.

I wish they'd give up their preference for those skinny stalks of it and go back to harvesting it when it was larger. The big stuff can be grilled, caramelizing the outside, and it's my favorite way to cook it.

Tried growing asparagus as a kid because Ma said it was expensive.

A decent sized chunk of space and we'd get one servings a year out of it if the rabbits let it be.

Gallons of canned tomatoes, leaf lettuce that we had to give away, kale, peppers even. But 1/8 or 1/7 of production went to a a small serving of asparagus for 3 people.

It lasted 2, 3 years. Then I dug it up and it became the ersatz compost pit. More productive that way.
