Cruz is living in a very strange Iowa cornfield. His voters long for those grotesque historic eras known as "The Crusades," "The Inquisition," and the "Salem Witch Trials." And that's why Cruz "won" in Iowa.
For all of his educational credentials, Cruz is an idiot. He has zero street smarts and absolutely no common sense. Only a fool goes out of his way to alienate everyone in his own party.
Enjoy your moment, Ted. And don't forget "Presidents" Gingrich, Huckabee, Bachmann, and Santorum who also won the Iowa caucus. It was their presidential "death knell." Ted, you really don't get the fact that the GOP Iowa caucus's are less than meaningless.
After the next couple of primaries, you will be going home to Texas. And you will never realize that, while some segment of Texans are willing to put up with you, the rest see you as the tremendous, world-class dick you are.
No, Ted, Iowa isn't heaven. It's where Republican hopefuls go to become irrelevant.

(39,321 posts)but I get the shivers thinking of him getting this close with his Dominionist ties.

As insane as our country is right now, there is no way in the world that this guy with "The Jesus Complex" is going to get anywhere near the White House.
He's gone out of his way to alienate every elected Republican. And the only reason he "won" in Iowa is because of the number of fundamentalist "Christians" who voted for him.
Trust me, (and the rest of the sane people in this country). Cruz isn't going to win another primary. And I don't care how many ignorant people he gets to fall to their knees and vote for him as their (God's) choice. At best, he's a religious fanatic. At worst, he's dangerously deluded. Yet, there are still fool's that will never see it.

(33,688 posts)with a messiah complex. Most of the Repig establishment hates his guts with a passion, He's such an incurable, shrieking asshole even the other assholes can't stand him and that is a truly remarkable accomplishment. As batshit crazy as 30-35% of the population is, I think you have sussed this out correctly.

(20,888 posts)He has a great education and work experience background. But he's freaking crazy. I fear him the most.

(15,057 posts)This is someone who believes his own dogma. And I think he would take malevolent steps against those who don't share his view of his own magnificence.
We've worried a lot about Trump's narcissism. But for the most part, Trump realizes he's peddling whatever crap he has to in order to get votes.
Cruz, on the other hand, really believes what he's saying and thinks that Jesus agrees with him. This is one sick and very, very dangerous man.

(20,582 posts)can they do that? Or does each candidate have to do it on his/her own - which would probably be risky. But all those young people who are getting really interested in politics should know just how dangerous he is, right?

(33,688 posts)Trumpolini is an old-fashioned blowhard - an evil Fred Flintstone or Ralph Kramden. Or maybe that jackass uncle who drinks too much at the holidays and starts bloviating. But he would never unleash thermonuclear hell to bring baby jeezus back. Bad for real estate values, you know.
Cruz would do it in a second.

(33,688 posts)at the border to turn him around 180 degrees. I have no doubts about that. We're stuck with that goon.

(20,582 posts)................ but none come to mind that are even comparable. I didn't realize just what a fanatical, seriously creepy psychopath he really is until I watched a few videos today. The only good thing - there's a lot of time left for people to see it. (I hope!)

(10,497 posts)If we weren't so gerrymandered Texas would be in play now. Our Democratic Party refuses to make any effort to build a strong presence in non-battleground states. Texans only get campaign ads of Tea Party nuts trying to out do each other. We don't get to hear the other side and running as a Democrat here is next to impossible.

(19,114 posts)Ted Cruz is the most terrifying candidate to ever run for President in this country. He really wants to blow the world up. This guy would happily start a nuclear war, eh's an end times devotee to the nth degree.

(63,221 posts)Cyrano, I really hope you're right. Cruz is just a little too close for comfort right now.
