Political Wire: Looking Ahead to New Hampshire

Looking Ahead to New Hampshire

Coming off his better-than-expected Iowa finish, Marco Rubio will raise money as quickly as he can and line up endorsements in an attempt to solidify himself as the choice of the Republican “establishment.” His short term goal is to knock Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and John Kasich out of the race.

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz will quickly turn their attacks on Rubio and his support of amnesty and immigration reform. The bromance between the two “outsider” candidates will never be what it was before Iowa but both men have a common short term goal in preventing Rubio from getting too strong.

Trump has the added pressure of needing a win in New Hampshire. For the candidate whose brand is all about winning, he only has a week to prove he can actually win.

Rubio must finish no worse than second in New Hampshire. If he doesn’t, he could easily lose his chance to lock up establishment support.
