at the R debate!

(6,409 posts)How can anybody ask that particular question, after we had eight years of GW Bush. If the senile Reagan didn't settle the issue, Dubya certainly put it to rest.

(541 posts)I'd say a repug candidate being temporarily lost on the stage is less inept than the Dubya- for whatever that's worth.

(34,136 posts)Why did Trump hang back with Carson? I like how Jeb| just shoved Trump out of the way and went on. Rubio just ignored the two of them and bombed on out.

Chris Christie, introduced first by co-moderator David Muir, entered the stage right on cue. But when Muirs partner, Martha Raddatz, called Ben Carson second, the retired neurosurgeon remained in the wings smiling but oblivious to the fact that he was supposed to be taking his place at a podium.
<SNIP>
Then Raddatz introduced Donald Trump, who sauntered out from behind the same curtain but didnt take the cue. Hey, hes out of practice after skipping the last debate! Trump lined up behind Carson, and the two stayed off-stage.
Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush made their entrances without incident, but neither moderator called for John Kasich.
Muir and Raddatz seemed not to know that anything was awry; they were facing the audience, with their backs to the stage. So when Raddatz wrapped up the intros ladies and gentlemen, the Republican candidates only four of the seven were actually in place.

(34,136 posts)That's why he hung back - otherwise Carson would have been alone in the camera sights for far longer than any other candidate.
Camera time is more important to The Donald than anything else.

(34,845 posts)Both Carson and Trump likely couldn't hear their names called out. Not being conversant with the acoustics there, that seems more likely than that they both suddenly became too stupid to walk.
