Politicians, human decency, and Ted Cruz

"Decency" is one of those things that "you know it when you see it."

On the Dem side, I believe that both Bernie and Hillary are, for the most part, decent people.

On the Republican side, there seems to be a lack of decency that goes beyond personal political preferences. There's only one person on the Republican side that I believe has basic human decency and that's John Kasich.

The others are mostly opportunists who will pretty much do and say almost anything to promote themselves. But I believe that one person crosses the "human decency" line. And he doesn't give a rat's ass about the fate of anyone or anything on this planet aside from himself. Ted Cruz.

Why Cruz? I believe that's it's virtually impossible for someone to consistently choose what can be called "the dark side" unless they're making a conscious decision to do so.

As an agnostic, I've always been wary of the terms "good" and "evil." However, once in a while, someone comes along who virtually compels me to use those terms, therefore, I believe the following:

Ted Cruz is "evil."

And I don't mean that in the sense that he has a 666 tattoo somewhere on him.

I mean it in the sense that the man just emanates strong, negative vibes. Watching his daughter pull away from him in disgust when he tries to kiss her cheek is one example. Another is his facial expressions that always seem to belie the words coming out of his mouth. And perhaps the most telling one is his "Jesus thing" where he attempts to convince people that he is "God's Chosen One." That's sick, and beyond what one would consider "normal."

In short, Cruz scares the hell out of me.

Kasich may come close to something resembling decency, but he's not quite there.

Cruz, though, is in a class by himself. He's twisted.

If a rise to power were out of the question for him, he might well be a good guy, but...

Like with Cheney, you watch him and you think, there's a really bad guy. The other candidates don't emanate evil vibes like he does, although there's a fair amount of stupid and crazy going on. Trump is doing performance art; he knows what kind of over-the-top crap to say to attract the knuckledraggers but I doubt he believes half of it. He's a cold-blooded cynic, which is somewhat evil in itself, and he could do a lot of damage, but although he makes me want to puke he doesn't make the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

Carson is an egomaniac who doesn't know anything about anything but medicine but at least he's done some good in his life. Jeb! has turned out to be the dumber brother, if that's conceivable, but he's just an entitled fool who thought he should be president because his family said so. He's done some bad shit (Terry Schiavo comes to mind), but I don't think he's evil, just a lazy opportunist. Rubio is in over his head and is not ready for prime time. He hasn't been around long enough to learn GOP evil, and he's probably just another grasping politician. Some people who are familiar with Kasich have remarked that he's not really as decent as he seems but is actually an extreme right-winger in nice-guy clothing. Who knows?

But you are right; none of the others give off that whiff of sulfur like Ted Cruz and fellow demon Dick Cheney. Their styles are different but I'll betcha kroner to krugerrands that they're a couple of card-carrying, weapons-grade sociopaths.

There really are people who just reek of "evil" which is as unmistakable as the odor of a skunk. Cruz and Cheney are two of them.

Cruz is so much more dangerous because he truly believes that God is guiding him to lead America . . .and, for that reason, whatever he does is right. So he shows no remorse for his actions, much less understanding that they might be counter-productive . . .even for his own cause.

Unfortunately, his rise to the national stage has reinforced his belief that he is foreordained to win the presidency.

On the other hand, anyone who decides to run for president ...

Nonetheless, Cruz is one sick, scary puppy.

That creepy homunculus is a walking smorgasbord of mental pathologies. Just the obvious ones: anti-social personality disorder, delusions of grandeur/messiah complex, narcissistic personality disorder, sadism, and probably schizophrenia given his religulous delusions.

One of the creepiest human beings this side of Charlie Manson.
