Rhodes is her stage name. She named herself that in honor of the guitarist in Black Sabbath. So yes there is a connection!

Ozzy was, but not Randy. Tony Iommi has been Sabbath's only guitarist since their inception. Randy's two big bands were Quiet Riot and Ozzy.

Incidentally, Brian May is the only other guitarist to play with Black Sabbath (as a session musician).

I knew that useless repository of pop culture history clogging up my brain would come in handy some day!

I don't listen to heavy metal but I do listen to Brian May.

Check out the video of Roger Daltrey singing I Want It All with Queen and Toni Iommi. At the Freddie Mercury Memorial AIDS benefit in 1992 on YouTube.

So many terrific musicians have been affiliated in some way Black Sabbath over time, it's easy to mix them up.

I've always found Brian May to be quite underrated as a guitarist.

I'm not a guitarist but he is pretty awesome all around. Brilliant musician, great composer, sex symbol, animal rights activist and Ph.D. in Astrophysics. All-round nice guy.

To quote some other DUer, "Brian May is the coolest motherfucker on the planet."

Here is a link to Randi's Kickstarter page:

http://randirhodes.com/kickstarter-campaign/

Randi wants to do live streaming audio (so people can call in and talk with her the way she did back in the day) and it takes a fair amount of commitment, money, and equipment to make that happen.

....including when she was just a local act in Florida.

Unfortunately, around 2007 or so, her ego really started getting to her and she went completely off the deep end.

It's a shame, because when she was at her best, she was really, really good at researching her facts. Sadly, I think her personality got the best of her.
