When she sees the need.

the Great Tony Bennett has some real vocal chops. She's the real deal.

was made by the Super Bowl officials.
AND if you don't think Whitney would have been just as good live, you have ZERO idea about her power, vocal range and skill.

Singing live is much much more difficult. Christina Aguillera even forgot the lyrics when she tried it.

Theres been plenty of artists (Gaga, Xtina, Idina Mendzel, Carrie Underwood) who have sung it live at the SB in the exact same circumstances, so this idea that the nfl made her lip sync is just an excuse. Its up to the artist. Some choose to sing live and some dont. When an artist chooses to lip sync its because they dont want to risk screwing up and Im sure Whitney Houston was no different.

Too choreographed and programmed. Almost robotic - takes away from the music. Just my opinion. She is a great singer.

She had great training. Her duets with Tony Bennett are awesome.
She did what a lot do. She created another persona for pop marketing. Gave her commercial success, but people who don't pay attention don't know how good she is.

As someone said upthread, if you're not paying attention, you wouldn't necessarily know this. She has a rare instrument and the rarer ability to use it.

Her pop songs pay the bills but her real talent lies elsewhere, in serious music. She'll be a talent for the generations.

Count me as one of her fans.
