Now evidence is clearly pointing to a deliberate cover-up, Genesee Cty Public Health Dir said, 36 days before Snyder admitted LegionnairesMore than eight months before Gov. Rick Snyder disclosed a deadly Legionnaires' disease outbreak in the Flint area, federal health officials worried a lack of cooperation in Michigan could be hampering the public health response.
Thousands of pages of e-mails obtained by the Detroit Free Press through the Freedom of Information Act show increasing concern about the quality of the Flint's drinking water as tensions grew over a lack of coordination to combat the waterborne disease.
County health officials were warned for reaching out to federal experts for help while they struggled to persuade Flint city officials to provide needed information, the e-mails show. Others in e-mails wondered about ethical breaches and the possibility of a cover-up.
.........
By Dec. 5, Tamara Brickey, the Genesee County Health Departments public health division director, said in an e-mail to other county health officials that the state is making clear they are not practicing ethical public health practice.
Now evidence is clearly pointing to a deliberate cover-up, Brickey wrote. In my opinion, if we dont act soon, we are going to become guilty by association.

(5,420 posts)It's been pretty obvious to me. My question was " is that why they brought in the city planners? To enable the cover up?

(14,177 posts)Seriously, of course there is a cover up and it's not just in Michigan. There are several southern states and several western states that have worse lead poisoning rates than Flint, what??????????? Yep I saw it in an article online.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/02/04/untold-cities-across-america-have-higher-rates-of-lead-poisoning-than-flint/
It wasn't this one, the one I saw had a map
and there is this article about Native Americans water supplies
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/navajo-water-supply-horrific-flint-cares-native-american/
but that wasn't the article either, it's important though.
I hope that like what happened in Ferguson, what happened in Flint causes a lot of people to raise a ruckus and get these problems cleared up. The government should absolutely not turn it's back on the most vulnerable of our citizens, poor children who live in areas with bad water delivery systems and housing with lead paint.

WJR and no doubt the rest of the right-wing radio industrial complex here in Michigan has been desperately trying to spin this as a failure of low level government employees. It appears that the facts on the ground will continue to make these futile efforts to push that narrative even more absurd.

One of the main talking points on WJR was that Snyder was getting bad information from the DEQ...
Snyder allegedly delayed admitting ELEMENTARY school had lead problems.
