https://community.sumofus.org/petitions/while-flint-drinks-poison-nestle-is-pumping-out-200-gallons-of-fresh-water-every-minuteMeanwhile, Michigans Governor has been cozying up with Nestlé, allowing it to pump 200 gallons of fresh water every minute out of the states reserves.
Nestlé is the largest owner of private water sources in Michigan -- water the people of Flint sorely need and the water-guzzling corporation has deep ties to Governor Rick Snyders office. This is the same office that thought nothing off undermining the public system that was supposed to keep the people of Flint safe.
Deb Muchmore, the head spokesperson for Nestlé Michigan, is married to Governor Snyders chief of staff. As Michael Moore wrote recently, "The Muchmores have a personal interest in seeing to it that Nestlé grabs as much of Michigan's clean water as possible.

(15,943 posts)That is the most outrageous crime here, imho.
We really don't consider how much of the water supplied for the bottle water industry is interfering with our public water system. If the money used for bottled water was used on public water, there would be no need for bottled water.
It would save the landfills from all the disposable bottles that get thrown out to eliminating the greed factor of corporate overlords owning our water supply.

(11,495 posts)To make damn sure voters turn out and get rid of every republican governor they can this year, and every year they are up for election. Republicans have been working over time to take over state governments, and all you have to do is look at those states to see just how much damage they have done. The only way to stop them, is for voters to turn out in recored numbers and remove them!

(36,307 posts)Flint used to get its water from the Detroit system which was fed by Lake Huron and the Detroit River. The Nestle plant is located in Mecosta County which is some 120 miles away from Flint.
200 gallons a minute, or 288,000 gallons a day is just drop in the bucket compared to what Flint uses.
"By October 2014, when the Flint plant ended operations, it pumped just 16 million gallons (61,000 m3) daily.[5]"
