(23,156 posts)Of course, I wouldn't blame them if they didn't talk to us for the next 60 years or so.

Something I always tell my American friends to tell their Trump voting family...fences keep people in as well as they keep people out you know. And that if Trump is elected there might just be a lot of Canadians only too willing to help build that fence.
But yeah, over here in Canada the general consensus over Trump is...'WTF? seriously?'

(26 posts)This guy is talking about race, meanwhile the black population in Canada is like 3%. Oh and try to getting in as a citizen, it's nearly impossible unless you are highly skilled.
They have basically no illegal immigration to speak of, which tells me they aren't really open to immigrants at all, at least to the one's they don't want.
Canada really isn't a shining example of a welcoming country if you ask me. Yes I know they recently took in some refugees, but if you look at that country as a whole there's basically zero diversity, with the exception of a very few areas.
I've even heard stories of people not being allowed to visit because they have a criminal record.

Oh, and have you never noticed that the U.S.of A. often denies entry to people for all sorts of reasons?

Canadian immigration rates are more than twice the USA rate.

Canada does have illegal immigration from people overstaying their visas, but nothing like the problem the US has on its southern border.
I'm just glad we have the USA to the south of us, not Mexico.

(8,646 posts)You know for your last sentence the same is true for the US right? Friends of my parents (I use the term friends loosely) were turned away at the border because the husband had a DUI from the 70s, so they couldn't go on their Florida vacay. It works both ways. That's kind of what countries do, you know.
The rest of your post is, well, silly. Canada doesn't border a country that people are dying to get out of, so it stands to reason that we aren't going to have tons of illegal immigrants. But zero diversity? That's really a stretch.
