Scalia's death tilts 2016 election to Ds

Ds outnumber Rs in this country. The problem is getting them motivated to get out to vote.

Well, that motivation just showed up today, and in spades.

What has been an intellectual discussion just got very real.

Obama should give it two weeks to be respectful of the shit that was Scalia, and he should then put a nominee forward, front and center. The Rs will block his nominee, not allowing a Senate vote. Their actions will reinforce just how important this election is. If they overplay their hand - which is what they do all the time - it will put the Senate back in D hands next year.

And, if Hillary is the D nomination, you will see Bernie Sanders front and center telling his supporters that they need to get out and vote for Hill because the future of the country is literally at stake. He will appeal to those Bernie-or-bust supporters who vowed to sit home if he is not the nominee to get off their asses and cast what is literally the most-important vote of their lives.

couple this with the fact that the Ted Cruzs on the right will be screaming that Scalia's replacement needs to put the Bible over the Constitution, and the importance if this election couldn't be clearer.

Scalia's death means a win-win scenario for Ds this fall, no matter how you cut it.

Getting anyone through this Congress is going to be a knock down drag out fistfight.

.... if that indeed had occurred.

As it is, there is a GOP majority, so gods help us all because they will obstruct as much as they can.

Everyone knew the next president was going to tip the balance one way or the other.

So in the grand scheme of things, it may not make a whole lot of difference. Obama could also appoint a moderate and the senate confirms.
