“There is healing in the trees for tired minds and for our overburdened spirits,

there is strength in the hills, if only we will lift up our eyes. Remember that nature is your great restorer.” - Calvin Coolidge

(Well, there's always SalmonChantedEvening's Lol Cats, but I presume that you might welcome company with that. I won't choose favorites on that issue.)

My best to you on President's Day.

And I can vouch for the sentiment. Just returned from happily tromping around our woods with the dogs, and snow on the pines.

Human history cannot be ripped from its cultural history. As a lifelong atheist, I often embrace such allusions. So I do not see them as a negative anymore than any other allusion to literature.

It makes for good argument, and colorful reflection. I would no more condemn it than Shakespearian allusion, and there is an awful lot of that as well.

My best.

I was on the road today and saw a flock of geese flying over the river. Or skies are still could today and I hit some patch fog, but the hills still had snow on them, yet in the valley the ground is showing, and after a long, long winter of plowing almost daily, I can see hope that spring is just around the corner.

Thanks for the picture and the words of wisdom.

Glad you saw 'your' geese today. These in the pic apparently live around here, saw them again today after the cold dissipated and they were able to get into flight. New snow here, but temps increasing so things will get back to 'normal' soon. Awaiting the melt, as I don't plow!
