If another or two of the suprems die in the next year, will the Senate drag their feet and let

there be six or so people on the court. They act like this one guy is the only one of the Supremes guaranteed not to die in the next year or two.

Some of them are old and there are always accidents. How small do the Republicans let the court get when our next President is a Democrat and several Supremes die. Are they holding out for years?

Would they like a supreme appointed by Hillary or Bernie any better then our current Prez?

I don't think they realize the can of worms they have opened.

They are caught in a bit of a political trap; they only have their base and some theoratical silent majority (that basically wants what the base wants) - as long as they are there, any compromise with Democrats will be seen as weakness and appeasement if not betrayal.

theoretical or silent in 2014. Or in 2010, either. They are out there, and history is on their side. It is very rare for one political party to hold the presidency for more than two consecutive terms.

GOTV.

from the centrists. Wishful thinking after a fashion - they believe that all good Americans see Obama the way that they see him, as an enemy to be destroyed. Their base though isn't, in my opinion as large as they believe it to be.

Also as to parties holding power for a long time, I agree that usually it doesn't stick. But that's because the party can make adjustments; after Carter and Mondale and the like, the Democrats put up Clinton, who was a different kind of Democrat - I don't think the Republican Base is going to allow them to do that; look at how well Trump and Cruz are doing - and both are pretty well extreme.

That said I totally agree that we need to get out the vote.

hate him more than they have ever hated any human being in their lives.

They will not do their job, ever, if doing their job risks the chance of giving Obama a positive legacy.

It really wouldn't be a big deal if it went to six again for a short period, or even permanently.

These people believe they have a divine right to rule and view any Democrat in office as illegitimate. Compromising with these people is completely impossible. These people are willing to make the government and society completely non-functional in order to get their way.
