Question about lines of attack not being taken against Trump

Disclaimer: I'm quite naive about this sort of thing, so the question itself is naive.

Trump HAS to have all kinds of skeletons in his backyard. We already know of some. Are the other candidates not disinterring the skeletons and throwing them at him for fear that Trump will disinter theirs ? That's my best guess, but as I said above, I'm quite naive about all this.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Steve

1. I think Trump benefits from the fact that people already know about the skeletons

Or think they do. They know he's arrogant and a blowhard and a womanizer and the like. That's on the label. So digging down you'd have to find something particularly shocking; otherwise people are going to just say "Yeah we know that already, but for some reason we still support him."

That's my theory at any rate.

8. And the other half is that the others have "hidden" skeletons.

Trump has made no effort to claim he was clean. The rest of the candidates have tried to make themselves seem to be cleaner than God.

In a weird way this makes Trump seem more honest.

6. Trump is more about emotion than facts. That is why his appeal is so strong on the Right.

People are angry, broke and discouraged -- Trump just rides those emotions and steers them to blame immigration, the media, etc. Meanwhile net immigration with Mexico is an outflow, more leaving than coming in but Trump's "wall" just sounds good to people.

His bankruptcies keep coming up but the Trump lovers don't get it. They just see him as this rich successful guy and 'if he was bankrupt once or twice it just shows how resiliant he is.' Rand Paul still thinks that the bankruptcies are key to taking Trump off his perch:

But really, (Rand) Paul continued, "I think he doesn't like to talk about, you know, his bankruptcies. Part of his shtick is that he's all powerful, he's so rich you can't imagine how rich he is, that he's going to fix the country, and I don't think he likes to be challenged about the fact he's been bankrupt four times."

Ted "Eyeliner" Cruz side steps the word "bankruptcy" but attacks on the same issue:

“If you look at his financial disclosure, he owes at least $480 million right now, and it could be billions,”

They HAVE talked also about 'how do you go bankrupt running a casino with the odds in favor of the house ??'

One thing I haven't seen yet is any focus on Trump's mob ties and that seems an obvious one. Trump talks like Joey Soprano, had casinos, did major construction projects in NYC in the 1980s... It's right there but the question again is whether the Trumpsters get it or would take it as a negative if they believed it.

There is absolutely no way his hands have been 100% clean in his business dealings.
