Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Radio Iowa that he had not ruled out holding hearings on President Obamas eventual nominee to replace Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.
Said Grassley: I would wait until the nominee is made before I would make any decisions. This is a very serious position to fill and it should be filled and debated during the campaign and filled by either Hillary Clinton, Senator Sanders or whoevers nominated by the Republicans.

The Republicans have nothing more to lose by delaying they get a split court where some of the lower court decisions stand in their favor, regardless of who wins in November. Half a loaf is better than no loaf.
If they get a 5-4 liberal court, they lose up and down the docket. Hence the pretzels.

Sounds like he plans on stalling out the rest of Obama's term and doesn't sound like expects that Obama will nominate the Justice who is eventually confirmed.

They WILL cave on this. They WILL cave and vote on the nominee. Probably won't get confirmed, but they will vote.
