STD rates soaring in Florida - Gov Rick Scott cutting health dept budgets

On the HIV front, rates started ticking up statewide around 2012. At the same time, Gov. Rick Scott started slashing the budget and jobs from the 67 county Health Departments. The new budget submitted to the state House calls for a further reduction in more than 700 positions and lawmakers have expressed concern as they mull over the reappointment of Florida Surgeon General Dr. John Armstrong.
