This election is slowly being framed as an election for "religious freedom". More and more certain GOP campaigns have the flavor of the old religious tent rally. Rubio, Cruz, Katich et al are openly professing that religion has a rightful place in government. Separation of church and state is seen as out of date.
Voters better understand that the GOP itself is becoming the theocracy party. And it better be rejected out of hand.

I don't have a religion and I don't want one... I also don't want anyone ordering me to church or to pray or whatever else religious people do. I could possibly lose my mind and become a criminal shortly after the election if any of these zealots win.

(40,416 posts)The pervasive singing of "God Bless America" at every fucking baseball game! (Not just the Christian nights at the ballpark.) Talk about absolutely ruining America's past time!
These lunatics want to turn every fucking thing into church.
They can have all the church they want in their homes and in private. But it doesn't belong in a fucking baseball park, let alone the halls of government.
So, fuck them!
"Take Me Out to the Ball Game" is the only proper song to sing at the ball park. Everybody knows that.

(40,416 posts)But some people want church to be everywhere.
Plus, God Bless America is just a horribly presumptuous song. Every country on the planet thinks they are blessed.

(58,724 posts)Singing a patriotic song seems like one of the more innocuous elements of going to a baseball game.
The abundance of billboards and loud blaring advertisements annoy me a lot more.
At some parks, you can't even have a conversation with your friends between innings because of the high volume garbage playing on the screens.

(40,416 posts)And for Christ sakes, the game starts with the national anthem! How much more patriotism does one have to profess at a baseball game?
That's right. There's not enough God in the national anthem.

(58,724 posts)You'd rather sing a song where you are exhorted to buy Crackerjacks?
There is quite enough subtle and not so subtle pressure to empty your wallet at the old ballgame and buy overpriced crap.

(28,273 posts)In the end, I believe his repulsive looks, his whiney voice, his obvious self-worship, his alienation of the D.C. establishment, and his hyper-conservative, theocracy-oriented policies will do him in. I've come across rattlesnakes with more personal appeal than this guy, and I won't be happy until he's bowed out of the race.
