I remember learning this in sixth grade. It was a valuable lesson, especially for children at an age where they are starting to make their own purchases.

We raise our children in a sea of advertising. They need to know about how they are being manipulated.

picture ads guide ones eyes often to deception about a product, linking it to something pretty, good, etc. in a picture, etc.

a whole English class section on propaganda, exploring these very tactics. We students had to find magazine or newspaper ads that illustrated each tactic. It was VERY illuminating and I've remembered the lessons to this day.

Pulling made up shit out of your ass and throwing it against the wall to see what sticks.
Speak English or die comes to mind.

#1: Bandwagon
This technique tries to persuade everyone to join in and do the same thing.
His constant use of the word "Win" and all its derivatives, like Winner and Winning and Won. Everyone wants to be on the winner's bandwagon and he's the winner.

#2: Testimonial
An important person or famous figure endorses a product.
All his references to his many "friends" who support him, some who support him even as they booed him in the debate because they . . . . however he spun that.

#3: Transfer
Good feelings, looks, or ideas transferred to the person for whom the product is intended.
His "beautiful wife" his (ICK!) fawning over his beautiful daughter implying he would date her, his good looking sons.

#4: Repetition
The product name or keyword or phrase is repeated several times.
Making America Great Again (even emblazoned on that silly red ball cap he wears on his combover.

#5: Emotional Words
Words such as luxury, beautiful, paradise, and economical are used to evoke positive feelings in the viewer.
Use of extreme, maximum superlatives.

#6: Name-calling
Negative words are used to create an unfavorable opinion of the competition in the viewer's mind.
Oh boy

#7: Faulty Cause and Effect
Use of a product is credited for creating a positive result.
The "evangelicals" love him because he's better than evangelical Cruz.

#8: Compare and Contrast
The viewer is led to believe one product is better than another, although no real proof is offered.
He would build the "best military ever" and give us the "greatest healthcare possible" and . . . . and . . . . and not what "those losers" are promising.

After people see something just three times they believe it, even if false.

People still believe media has to tell the truth.

Lying will go without much push back and will still cause damage to your opponent

Cheating if noticed will fade away if the party backs the cheater

Claim you are the victim when truths about you are mentioned
