This is a state that Kasich, I would have thought, would be doing better in:
Massachusetts Republican Presidential Primary Emerson Trump 50, Rubio 16, Cruz 10, Kasich 13, Carson 2 Trump +34

(3,205 posts)1. People want change.
It's why Bernie and Trump are doing so well. The difference is that Trump is running against 4 complete dolts, and Bernie has real competition. If Bernie were running against the democratic equivalent of those 4 he'd be running away with it also.

(33 posts)2. But why do people want change for?
Lots of people on here repeatedly call Obama the greatest president ever, topping most of the polls so why after 8 years of his presidency would people want "change" if he's been so successful?

(3,205 posts)3. Because the middle class is disappearing...
...the republican base mostly blames President Obama, but they also blame their party leaders for failing to thwart the president and impose their ideological solutions on the country.
...the democratic base mostly blames wall street and their party leadership that they see as in bed with Wall Street.
...President Obama escapes most of the blame (even though he's as much a tool of Wall Street as HRC) because of the unbridled hatred and obstructionism of congress. His poll numbers have gone up the past year because he has been perceived (rightfully so) as standing alone in thwarting the republicans and moving the country forward. He has managed to get some things done in spite of congress, AND he leaves office next January, that's guaranteed by the constitution. So that change is on the way. There's a huge desire in the country right now to take the opportunity presented by the election to move away from the status quo, business as usual. The country is looking for agents of change, and that's Trump and Sanders.
Well, that's my opinion anyway.

(24,347 posts)4. Not surprising, MA Republicans are trash.
Bernie Fiveaces is winning here though.

(89,252 posts)5. there was a poll which showed trump leads among republicans who say they are liberal
I think part of this is also cultural where east coast republicans who tend to be less religious feel closer to trump.
