Major GOP donors to pressure Kasich to leave race

http://www.koco.com/politics/major-gop-donors-to-pressure-kasich-to-leave-race/38133070

This is the best news in weeks.

Some major Republican donors, concerned about Donald Trump's early contest wins, are looking to clear the field some more for Marco Rubio and intend in the next few days to privately urge John Kasich to drop out, according to a major GOP bundler.

Kasich told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on "The Situation Room" that he was confident about his financial position and his path to victory.

"I haven't heard from any of the special interests to get me to drop out," Kasich said Monday. "We're signing up some significant Republican fundraisers and our political organization is expanding as well."

Rubio has already benefited from the exit of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush from the presidential campaign on Saturday, which freed up many establishment donors and politicians to quickly back him.

Everybody else on that side I think we at least have a chance with. Kasich gives me nightmares.

The primary is front loaded with southern states because the republicans hoped to get a more conservative nominee. So Kasich wants to hang around to get his piece of the pie in OH and MI.

This makes sense in a convention fight because it can earn him a VP spot or better.
