Say Donald Trump wins the election and the nation plunges into chaos.

After Trump has decided to flee the country on Trump Force One Viktor Yanukovych style, leaving us peons to fend for ourselves, I have to wonder:

Would conservatives still try to blame the national crisis on President Obama? I honestly could see them doing that rather than admitting they were to blame.

Or would we all be too busy eating cat food and praying for the sea levels to rise to put us out of our misery for us to be concerned with the trivialities of partisan politics any longer?

I think. Firefighters would show up when needed, driver's licences would be renewed, the snow would get plowed, cops would continue shooting unarmed black people.

Trump's, or Cruz's ability to FUBAR things would be limited to the federal level, and even those bureaucracies would chug along normally, for the most part.

As scary as an ideologue as Cruz is, I get the sense the worst we'd see is a whole lot of whining because no one--not even his own party--would want to work with Slappy the Dummy just because he's so unlikeable and spiteful. So we'd probably get a lot of dysfunctional politics, but the normal day to day runnings of the federal government would probably continue as usual.

Trump, though, is a Cluster B headcase with absolutely no elective experience and with a track record of failing miserably at just about anything he touches. I shudder to think what someone of his infamous track record would do if he gets a hold of the US government.

Bad for real estate values, and the Dumbold has always been interested in those. And he prides himself on being the deal-maker supreme.

Cruz, OTOH, would unleash armageddon in a second if he thought it would help bring baby jeezus back.

I worry about Trump. I am scared to death of Cruz.

The answer of course is that it doesn't matter cause you're dead.

Cruz is a walking smorgasbord of mental pathologies - megalomania with a messiah complex, anti-social personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, sadism, religulous delusions, and that's just a start.

Trump is a garden-variety loudmouthed, blowhard bully who will back down if the stakes are high enough. He doesn't want to blow himself up and deny his "magnificence" to the rest of us. I honestly think he only believes about 60% of what he says. He's a terminal attention hog, and the more outrageous he is the more attention he gets.

The country survived Richard Nixon and Ronald Raygun. It could, institutionally speaking, survive the Vulgar Talking Yam. I doubt it could survive Cruz, though.

He would have almost zero to do with running the country. He's a media star and would continue to be. Lots of TV time, lots of photo ops but little actual work. Trump doesn't worry me at all really (no more than any other Republican, and probably less since he's not really a Republican at all). Bob Dole gave an interview and pretty much said that the GOP could work with Trump because he would have good advisers (aka people doing the real work). Cruz actually thinks he is capable of being president, thinks he is doing God's work, and would not listen to the advice of anyone. He is dangerous. Fortunately, the GOP wants nothing to do with him so they will crush him before he can get to the nomination.

If Donald Trump wins the upcoming U.S. election, Cape Breton Island is ready to welcome Americans looking for refuge in Canada.

Sydney, N.S. native Rob Calabrese launched the tongue-in-cheek website, "Cape Breton If Donald Trump Wins," on Tuesday.

A website encouraging Americans to move to Cape Breton if Donald Trump becomes president is starting to get serious inquiries from U.S. residents.

The website has since amassed about 10,000 hits and Calabrese said he has received serious inquiries from Americans about life on the island and Canadian immigration requirements.

so we'd survive. Although a lot would depend on who he'd pick for VP. If some more or less regular Republican, things would muddle on under that person's leadership. If he picked a non-politician, maybe some one of his cronies, if he has any, and I haven't a clue about that, things could move from bad to worse.

The curse of living in interesting times would fall on us all.
