(28,017 posts)When he crapped on WMD, Baby Bush, on W, on 9/11 and on W's little Iraqi Vacation, he told enough truth to resonate between the ears of his potential supporters. The GOP seriously thought that they avoided any responsibility for their fucked up 8 years in power. Especially the triple failure of not stopping 9/11 (despite many warnings), the invasion of Iraq (and the spawning of ISIS as a result), and the creation of a monstrous internal security cystern that intrudes on our lives, makes us miserable, and destroys our privacy.
No wonder he is popular among his fans. And that is why nothing the other GOPers do will stop him. He will be the GOP nominee.
Where's my passport? Do I need to renew it?

(58,785 posts)If he's their nominee, we'll wipe the GOP with him. My husband's registered Republican (no liberals are ever elected in our district or state government), and he's going to vote for Don in the primary.
As for this nonsense, The Donald said he loved everyone. Repeatedly. And he said they were all smart. Repeatedly.
I agree with Erich's other -- he was just a bit too honest in his wording. The Donald could always have ALEC or Frank Luntz's group send someone over to coach him in focus-group-approved terminology.

Canada would be great, since I try to speak their language. Nice people, and with global climactic change, Chicago like temps.
Australia and New Zealand? Lovely places, great people, except the land of Oz has its own W in charge at the moment.

(3,182 posts)He said something crass and stupid, realized he did and had no way to recover from it, thus repeating it.
That was his "special" Oh, I f**ked up recovery.
Now, let us just imagine when he does the same thing to some world leader............yeah, that will work out well.

(7,947 posts)Which is how every politician has a job.
I would imagine it's because of the big deal made about how he does well with his supporters who are labeled as poorly educated. As the story goes, the only way to support Trump is if you're dumb and don't know your own interests. Which pushes people away from those saying that, and into the arms of someone who at least seems like he cares, even though he most likely doesn't. But again, that's politics. That's how you win.
Nobody gets voted for unless they tell people what they want to hear.

(37,573 posts)Whereas we all know the supercilious liberals think they are better than you.
They are the kind of pompous a$$hats who will use a word like supercilious.
That word, by the way, was my friend Erhart's favorite word. He was a farmer all his life.
He never went to college. He never even went to Switzerland.
But he wrote four or five books about the history of the Swiss in Sumpter Township.
