If Congress passes the Paycheck Fairness Act, women are going to have access to more tools to claim equal pay for equal work. If they dont, if Congress doesnt act, then women are still going to have difficulty enforcing and pressing for this basic principle.
And weve got to understand this is more than just about fairness. Women are the breadwinners for a lot of families, and if theyre making less than men do for the same work, families are going to have to get by for less money for childcare and tuition and rent, small businesses have fewer customers. Everybody suffers.

that this will die in the house. Its far to progressive for those terrorists.

(16,113 posts)2. There's an easy way to get companies "on board" with this and get it passed...
just tell companies they have to start paying men less. When employees get pissed about taking the pay cut, the companies can tell them, it's not our fault, we can't pay you more and be compliant with the law. Companies will save a lot of money on this so they'll push for their legislators to pass it.
