Statement from Governor Don Siegelman on the Supreme Courts Denial of his Petition for Certiorari:My heart is broken. Not for me, but for my family and friends who have stood by me during this struggle. I am eternally grateful for the work of my attorney Sam Heldman. I am indebted to the 113 state Attorneys General of both political parties who supported my case. And I am thankful for the law professors from around the nation who actively supported my appeal. I pray that something positive will come of this in our future.
Don Siegelman
Governor of Alabama 1999-2003

(15,689 posts)9. In the spirit of bipartisanship, they threw him this lifeline:
Rove wanted the D-P, so it was a compromise.

Such a waste of everything. And Rove walks free. Madness.

(4,026 posts)6. At this point, if I were Siegelman,
I would skip out of this country for someplace where extradition is at least unlikely and life is generally good. The only thing he will get here is more prison time that he never should have gotten in the first place. This is so much more than wrong. For his sake I hope he takes off, and I wish him well.

Wednesday, November 7 would be nice. That way Willard the Bully can't pounce on it.
