He is a bigoted lying blowhard who would sink this country if he ever made it to the White House(don't worry - he won't)
But, in the mean time, HE IS SINGLE HANDEDLY DESTROYING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.
w/o trump this would not be happening

(11,619 posts)People have been trumpeting the end of the GOP since 2008. They came back and now control most of the states, the House, and the Senate.
If this is their long, dark, teatime of he soul, I look forward to it.
But reality is a dirty, rotten .....
And I will wait for the gravestone to be erected.

(11,619 posts)History does not have a f... to give if people cheat.
I will add, life isn't fair.
What they have is absolute control of all legislation in the United States Congress. A sewage plant does not get named after George W. Bush unless they pass it.
In 24 states, they have a trifecta, which means they control Governor, the state senate, and the state house.
They control 34 governors.
In another 6 states, the control the State House and Senate
55% of all state Senators are Republican and 56% of all state representatives.
I will add, governors manage the state offices that control running elections and counting the vote.
The fact that they don't control the White House is annoying to them and threatens their Control of the Supreme Court.
There have been numerous stories pointing out that Republicans, fearful that Donald Trump will cause big losses in the House, Senate and even the States, are considering running a third party candidate and throwing the election.
They can lose the White House and still control most of the Cards.
The losses must be much deeper than the White House to make that big a dent. Their fear is that Trump will say something so stupid that Americans will flock in the millions to elect a Democrat. A big turn out of Democrats means the US Senate goes goodbye, they will lose seats in the House, a bunch of governors, and a handful of State Houses and Senates.
I hope to dance on their grave, but I don't expect it.

(942 posts)consider the successor regime.
If it's a case where a Lenin follows Kerensky or Hitler follows von Papen, there is nothing to celebrate.

(11,619 posts)Most Republican Congressmen and Senators and Governors would joint it in a heart beat.
I suspect, that like the Republican's of the 50's, they would show the John Birch Society and its descendants, the Koch's Teaparty, the door.
The US has had one period between 1812 and 1824 when there was only one existing political party. It proved disastrous.
Various parties have died over time, only to be replaced by something similar. (Arguments have been made that the Republican Party that succeeded the Whigs was a bit closer to the Democratic Party of today than the modern Republican party. Political Parties evolve and change just like species.)
I am not celebrating their demise because I have come to believe that is way premature. They have a lot of power in the States, and that power does not disintegrate because the do not win the White House.

He has no interest in policy.
Can't imagine he would like arm twisting Congress.

(39,313 posts)from running third party, but the chaos of the convention could be a grand old time. I wonder if they have the same system with superdelegates that can control who wins.
