High school students wear anti-LGBT badges. School can't decide what to do.

http://www.desertsun.com/story/news/education/2016/02/29/students-asked-remove-anti-gay-badges-now/81118840/

School officials have asked a dozen students wearing anti-gay symbols at Shadow Hills High School in Indio to remove the badges “for now” pending further investigation by the Desert Sands Unified School District.

In a letter sent to Shadow Hills staff Monday morning, district Superintendent Gary Rutherford said "recently some information has been brought forward that requires additional investigation and follow-up to determine a proper course of action. Pending further investigation, we are going to ask students who are displaying the symbol showing a rainbow pattern with a circle and a line, at least for now, to remove symbols while at school."

I'm wondering if the response would have been so lackadaisical had they been wearing anti-black, anti-Jewish, or anti-Latino badges.

Shadow Hills' dress code policy states "Clothing and/or accessories depicting ... racially/socially inflammatory material are not permitted."

DSUSD spokeswoman Mary Perry said "We are looking at policies and will be further reviewing the situation before making further comment."

If you were to say tell them they could not wear them, could a case also be made for gay pride symbols? (that argument will and has been made many times)

The DIFFERENCE is, that rainbows and the usual gay pride symbols are not anti anything, they are pro symbols. So perhaps these kids need the civics lesson and they need to rethink what they are trying to project. Get some symbols signifying and celebrating their sexual orientation.

Looks like 'socially inflammatory material' imo, but what do I know.
