away from the will of the American People if the primary winner is Trump.
This is just disgusting. They win when they lose - even within their own Party.
Trump should just pull out of the Repug Party and run a 3rd Party candidacy.
They deserve it.

(12,437 posts)Repugs have a 60% total delegate rule...and intend to fully apply their rules....Cleveland will " rock".

(26,060 posts)he doesn't merely need a majority of delegates heading into the convention, that he needs 60% to capture the nomination on the first ballot?
FarPoint
(12,437 posts)Will apply 60% rule; wherein the nominee needs 60% of primary delegates...if not, all starts over at the Convention. That is the best I understand. They'll keep the clowns in to reduce the % for Trump.

(26,060 posts)I think that's the only way they can keep him below 60%. Although I think Ben Stein is a major asshole, he does know those republican convention rules like the back of his hand and he was great at explaining the convention fight that the establishment GOP is aiming for now. He didn't mention the 60% that I heard but I was playing with and feeding the kitties through some of it.

(12,437 posts)Yes, puke moment but he appears desperately wanting to be relevant...It gave me a sense of their war against Tump...

(339 posts)Maybe, just maybe, that might open the door for Bernie to run as an independent if things don't work out for him.... Then we'll have a REAL election.

(4,213 posts)....who would ultimately vote in favor of the Republican, and give us whatever they put forward.
Granted, it's more complicated than that, but it's not a chance worth taking, considering the fact Republicans would be dividing their party in half more or less giving the Democratic nominee the election on a silver platter. Not to mention the Supreme Court and likely the Senate as well.

(12,437 posts)Both Clinton and Sanders worked out such a scenario.... Big picture stuff.

(26,060 posts)independent at this point. Everyone needs to read up on sore loser laws:

Anyone doing it at this point is only looking to make sure the other person in their party that has won the nomination doesn't win the general. Bernie would NEVER do that. Trump would.

(4,213 posts)I am crossing my fingers for a Republican fight at the convention. Not only because it would be entertaining to watch, but it would also rip their party to shreds. It would be the end of the modern Republican party as we know it. A collapsed Republican party opens the door for Democrats to make moves and gains all across the country.
We live in interesting times. Cross your fingers and hope for the Republican party to implode.
