(RNN) – The CEO and COO of Wounded Warrior Project have been fired, according to media reports.

Steven Nardizzi, former CEO and Al Giordano, former COO, were let go over spending issues with the organization's funds.

The Wounded Warrior Project came under fire after investigations revealed that it was spending more money on administration, meetings and travel than its clients: wounded veterans.

The charity has not publicly commented.

why on earth doesn't our government provide for these wounded warriors. it sickens me that they are not taken care of after sacrificing for their country. I get mad every time I see that commercial.

And it won't make you feel any better, but the Wounded Warrior Project spent very little money on veterans. Most of their take went to pay big salaries for the folks at the top and to pay for further fundraising.

is separate from the VA budget by design. They can always cut or minimize the VA budget but never the defense budget. Injuries are not calculated into the cost of war this way.
