The state Government Accountability Board is hearing reports of strong turnout across the state and few polling problems.
A voting machine in the town of Rothschild, near Wausau, was damaged overnight and had to be replaced Tuesday morning, said Reid Magney, spokesman for the state Government Accountability Board.
And a polling place in Milwaukee was reportedly asking voters to show identification even though that is not required, Magney said. No other polling problems had been reported by about 9:15 a.m., he said.

(53,475 posts)Kevin Kennedy lobbied for the use of Diebold electronic voting machines AND outsourced a piece of our election business to Accenture (think Arthur Andersen and Enron).
Those two acts alone disqualify him for his role as Director in my eyes.

(36,063 posts)I suspect there are more than 2 problems, but I think the reports of problems will take a while to work themselves into comments.

I suspect some predictable, preventable problems will muddy the waters today, and the GAB will own a piece of the blame.

(31,706 posts)I just spoke with a good friend from Mequon whose worked non-stop for this recall. He's emotionally spent...it's been quite a past two years for him. His wife is a teacher who is a couple years shy of retiring and they have a lot on the line here. His complaint is with all the special elections over the past year that some people may just be tired of voting...or just tuned out of the whole thing. Hopefully there's enough in his tank and others to put through a big push today...GET OUT THE VOTE and keep getting it out. The more who vote the better it looks for Barrett and the Democrats.
