Trump Predicts Riots If He’s Denied Nomination

Donald Trump warned of “riots” around the Republican National Convention should he fall slightly short of the 1,237 delegates he needs to clinch the nomination and the party moves to select another candidate, the New York Times reports.

Said Trump: “I think we’ll win before getting to the convention, but I can tell you, if we didn’t and if we’re 20 votes short or if we’re 100 short and we’re at 1,100 and somebody else is at 500 or 400, because we’re way ahead of everybody, I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically. I think it would be — I think you’d have riots. I think you’d have riots. I’m representing a tremendous, many, many millions of people.”

like it or not, if he wins and they take it from him, the party deserves to go down in abject humiliation.

5. I don't know if you understand how political conventions work. They're not pure democracy.

There's a threshold number of delegates one must clinch in order to secure the nomination on the first vote.

If one doesn't reach that threshold by the time of the convention and the first vote doesn't reflect it, then any vote after that is completely up in the air.

So if Trump gets a plurality of the delegates pre-convention but doesn't reach the threshold, he hasn't won anything yet.

technically, the parties can nominate whover they want.

doesn't make it right in a so called democracy in 2016

if votes dont matter, then lets just drop the pretense

The old admonition "be careful what you wish for, you might get it" applies here.

Cleveland residents have my sympathy.
