And the republicans win. First, the Republicans are not going to budge on nominating him until after the election. If the republicans win the presidency then they are going to nominate someone else in the mold of Scalia. If Clinton or Sanders win, then the republicans are going to rush through to have Garland confirmed knowing that if they don't then they would get a young liberal on the court and would rather have an older Centrist like Garland. Either that or the Democraric president may be obligated to keep Garland as their nominee instead of being able to nominate a young liberal.

This is why Obama should have nominated someone the base could get behind and add another reason to go to the polls in November.
