CNN logic on SCOTUS nomination

Notes that in the past president Obama has said he's looking for someone who is empathetic as a quality for a court nomination. Then explains that how does his "a consensus pick" and this nomination does not seem to fit that characteristic.

Later they note that justice Garland spends his spare time tutoring inner-city kids at DC public schools. I don't know about you but that sounds pretty empathetic to me.
