Lockheed Martin-Made Hellfire missiles found on plane headed to US

Reverb.com:

Serbian authorities have confirmed they found two US-made Hellfire missiles aboard a passenger flight from Beirut, Lebanon to Belgrade, Serbia.

The missiles were found by bomb-sniffing dogs on an Air Serbia flight at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport. The cargo package containing the missiles was due to be transferred to another flight with a final destination in Portland, Oregon...According to a statement, Lebanese authorities said... “They belonged to the Lebanese army, which decided to send them back to the American company that manufactured them upon agreement with it, in accordance with legal and administrative procedures and after training with them had been completed.”

Although the Lebanese army has said that the missiles posed no threat to the people and that the warheads were unarmed, Serbian prosecutors...(state) that the AGM-114 Hellfire missiles “were packed in proper transportation crates and supplied with paperwork.” This means that if it had not been for the detection dogs, the shipment would have passed unnoticed as regular cargo...

Serbian officials have declared to be investigating whether the Hellfire missiles are live or not...

Should the missiles have been on a passenger flight at all? And they were going to make a stop in America before ending up in Oregon? Hope it wasn't Chicago...

Even if it's legal for civilians to possess a rocket launcher, surely they have to be over the age of sixteen. Here's hoping he's cleaned up his act...

A rocket launcher is a plastic tube; AFAIK perfectly legal for anybody to own, even someone under the age of 16. The rocket itself (if the warhead is included) is a legally regulated destructive device that requires a Federal license, a tax stamp, and permission of local law enforcement.
