I'm guessing there are some as well who got their 5 hides for reasons other than advocacy in the Bernie-Hillary wars.

Anyway, if anything, a complete list would probably make a point you might want to make -- that Hillary supporters were overwhelmingly disproportionately hidden. Even though I'm a Bernie supporter, that has long been my impression. And certainly Hillary supporters seemed to get a lot of totally unjustified hides too.

(OTOH, some deserved their hides -- on both sides -- and I'm not happy to see those back (who deserved their hides on pure nastiness, name-calling, etc.) -- on either side).

One of the names I suggested was just someone I thought about not having seen around for awhile. The other 2 names, yeah, I saw in a Bernie Group thread. (In all cases of course I checked their profiles to verify that they are (a) Status: Active and (b) their transparency page is showing)

I rarely hang around either the Hillary or Bernie groups because I just can't stand any group where only one point of view is allowed. But I was curious to see how the Bernie group was reacting to Skinner's recent changes.

I often have thought over the past several months about the Hillary supporters that seemed to disappear, and sometimes check their profiles for their statuses -- and their posts that got the hides (as I said, some of the hides were ridiculous). If I see any Hillary supporters missing from your list, you can be sure I'd let you know (Likewise a few Bernie supporters seemed to have disappeared and I've checked on them too).

While that list is largely comprised of HRC supporter (though I am not) ... Another look at the list would reveal that it is disproportionately PoC and Female, and regulars (of good standing) in the African-American Group.

about getting one of Cha's post here hidden. That fact was talked about in the HRC group. An admin from there posted in that thread that that kind of behavior (gloating about getting posts hidden) wasn't going to be tolerated. I thanked her and got banned. Maybe registered at JPR, too, I don't know. I was there for a few days and lost interest.

Protected groups. Please link to my attack posts for all to see. I do not have 9-10 hides like some that post in those groups. Yes, I have had time outs in the past but I think I have grown and have not had a hide in a long time. Funny thing, be civil and people tend not to alert.

The Hill group reinstated all bans not that long ago. Woah, we had a marathon and deleted all. Deleted no questions asked. Deleted. The Bs group.... deleted a few at a time. So very slow to respond. Ouch! Autumn left 40 behind.

alerts within 25 minutes of each other with 4-3 hides, so the alerts obviously came from the same person. Identical wording, and they got a first 4-3 hide and then just found another post of mine and alerted again with the same exact wording in the alert with another 4-3 hide. The alerts themselves were lies!

They were just jury shopping, and it was like shooting fish in a barrel because they openly appealed to Bernie supporters in the alert. It was so bogus. That pushed me to the 5 posts, so thanks to Skinner for this breath of fresh air. Good to see you, she.

Another bogus hide was from a BernieBro who attacked me by calling me "desperate" out of the blue, and when I answered him in the same manner, he whined to the jury that HE was being attacked. It was so freaking bogus. They just attack people and when you answer them back in the same manner, they alert on your post. What a racket! Your last hide was just ridiculous beyond words. Glad to see this instant justice by the Admins!

a definite pattern of attacking people personally and then hoping for a hide if you answer them back. That's what passes as so-called discussion of the "issues". I'm definitely going to alert on those jury results, after all. I thought I couldn't because of the Transparency page, but I'm going to try again. I would like to bring those alerters to Admin's attention. They were really just jury shopping, hoping to get lucky with a hide.

What's sad is that I normally didn't ever think to challenge a hide because I gave people the benefit of the doubt and didn't doubt the system, but lately it's been so perverted that I could never trust it again. Thanks again to Skinner for being responsive to all this.

Too many people I talk to daily were starting to 'disappear' and when ya looked at their transparency page you had to wonder about the hides.

I was beginning to wonder if a few people quit out of anger, no...I see they were all 'silenced' that if very fucking creepy sheshe2! Glad to know all this! Place has been kinda boring without some of the more epic posters.

DU shouldn't have a Gulag.

It was creepy so many of the people I like and talk to started vanishing from the DUniverse. If you wouldn't have PMed me, I would have thought many just gave up on the site. I am glad they let everyone out of the Gulag, NG had to be given 'special privileges' to post after her husband died! What are we? Some hellhole like Russia!? That was the turning point for me, so happy the admins saw that too and did something about it.

Still, I've seen juries let ugly personal attacks upon others go while hiding some very tame stuff. There is just no consistency, and it's seem likely that some folks are specifically targeting posters they don't like with alerts. Or maybe I'm just a conspiracy nut. Either way...

You get use to certain posters posting all day and then they start disappearing one by one and you notice over the months - it is kinda creepy. We don't need a Gulag, nothing democratic about that and I am guessing the admins will remove people that get crazy on the hides. Timeouts simply were not working and what is the point of having a DU prison system?

And apparently they going to set up some guidelines for jurors.

But it has always been the case the whether a jury left or hid a post was often based on politics and it still will be.

What is rude, inappropriate, over the top, and disruptive post on DU is, in part, determined by one's political perspective.

The thing about DU is that when you are part of a smaller, less popular group and things get emotional, lots of bad hides happen. Its not a bug, its a feature. It happens all the time. As a member of HOF, you've seen it before. As a gun guy, I saw it after Sandy Hook. Lots of bans, too, for the pro-RKBA side.

Admins produced the 5-hide vacation rule because too many DUers just didn't care about their transparency page being lit up. They saw it as a badge of honor and the vitriol kept coming.

I suspect this unpleasantness will be over in a while and it appears the admins are going to tweak the jury system again.

You are right. It was grossly unfair.

Someone made a comment today on a compiled list of returning HC supporters, most were anyway. They said if you look closely at the list, most were either Woman or Black. Interesting huh!!!

Skinner and Company can do the research. They know who is alerting, stalking and hiding. They KNOW the attacks are partisan. Why would they lie about it?

I know a few guys who spoke out against BS that were alerted on and hidden.. the alert squad couldn't stand the reality of any bad news about BS.

The message of two raised middle fingers is "fuck you". 7 out of 7 jurors apparently saw it that way, which is understandable. I never saw that photo before, nor did the jurors I suspect. A photo like that, with no other words in the post to give context, means "fuck you", no matter how cutesy or clever the poster thought she was being.

Rude pictures get hidden here all the time, no matter which candidate the person posting them supports.

AND, as Skinner has repeatedly said - Groups are "safe havens" for expressing support of a person or activity/idea, but that definitely does NOT mean that posts in a Group are exempt from Community Standards. The same Community Standards apply there as anywhere else on DU -you can't run off to a group and post personal attacks or other inappropriate shit and expect to get away with it.

Really don't understand why that pretty basic concept is so hard for some of you to grasp. It doesn't require major high-level thinking skills in order to be comprehended.
