5. I had little appreciation of Bobby during the '60's. Then I saw a documentary about his life --

the part that struck me was when he went to Appalachia. He witnessed the poverty and held a starving child in his arms. The press was not allowed in to photograph or witness this.

After that, he went to his home in Arlington and announced to his family that he had wasted his life and was going to work to improve conditions of the impoverished among us.

A month or two later, he was assassinated.

I am saddened to think of what he might have accomplished if he became president.

9. Personally I don't have much patience for Boomer speculative hagiography of the Kennedys.

Somehow it seems like they were all going to do miraculous things (or undo their real misdeeds) right after they died.

I don't buy it. There's a tendency to believe the best of the dead (and especially the handsome youngish dead) but the only safe ground for judging their actions would be what they actually DID with their power.

And Bobby Kennedy was the finest redbaiter this side of Tailgunner Joe.

They are now below the middle. Have been since at least the 60's thus the connection to Bobby Kennedy. So I'm wrong with his family history.... We as young believers of Bobby's thought as Bernie does now. JMH thoughts.
