Those people are causing the backlash that will come to the rest of the people that should not be included in terrorism and are just trying to have a good life.

How do you know that these cells even intermingled with the general population..in a way which
would make them seem suspicious..? You make it sound like fact...Almost as if people are living normal lives, however know that their neighbors are terrorists and are ready to attack..

Less than a block from his family home. He was in there for four months. People knew he was there and hid that terrorist. Nobody is saying all are bad but join the real world, some people indeed are.

2. It is true terrorism tends to create a sympathy gap

It also tends to generate a certain circumspection toward the ideology that fueled the attacks.
That ideology is the literal interpretation of an old book that the clerics of that religion do not dare criticize and contextualize for fear of become themselves targets of the zealots.

in exchange for reduced charges. Maybe the attacks were of the 'let's just see what we can pull off, it's now or never" variety.

But indeed: no doubt the "be afraid be very afraid this is why we must wage war on the whole planet" crowd will be out today, spreading the message that more war will definitely be the solution this time. More of the same, more of the status quo, because different results are just round the corner; pay no attention to the repeated failures on record.

I guess the many dead and injured don't matter, just like with Cologne, where quite a few progressives cared more about how right-wingers might spin the story in their favor rather than about all the women who had been sexually assaulted and raped.

on whether you take a macro or micro view of events. Neither is right, neither is wrong, and we need both ways of viewing things.
