Censorship Run Amok.

I know this is boarder line Lounge material, but I am posting it here none the less. This seems like such an egregious over reach by religious extremists that I am hoping others see this as a more serious issue than what is normally posted in The Lounge.

ABC cancels 'Of Kings and Prophets' after just 2 episodes following complaints on its explicit content

The Parents Television Council (PTC) is lauding the ABC network for cancelling the "soap opera" style biblical saga "Of Kings and Prophets" after airing just two episodes.

Even though the show is purportedly inspired by the life of King David from the Bible's Old Testament, the PTC still objected to the show because it contains graphic sex and violent scenes. The television watchdog group even urged advertisers not to support the show.

PTC president Tim Winter is pleased that ABC listened to the viewers' objections against the show. "We're very delighted in that decision made by ABC," Winter told The Christian Post. "We certainly question why they would ever put it on the air to begin with, but the good news is it has received a death sentence just two weeks in.

I watched the first two (and now only) episodes and it seemed like a pretty good show. There was no more sex or violence on it than most evening dramas. The only difference here is that it is a retelling of a portion of the Old Testament. It was all set up for David v Goliath in episode 3, now I guess we will never know how that turned out.

What have we come to when the retelling of Bible stories are taken off the air because they do not meet the purity test of some portion of our society? I think this shows just how low we have fallen.

I mean, I'm (genuinely!) sorry you lost a show you liked but I was never gonna watch it.

I've always said any accurate depiction of bible stories would be x-rated so I guess they toned it down some for prime-time.

I also heard it was getting terrible reviews so I wonder if these PTC people are trying to take credit for the show's demise or was it just numbers.
