Latest Presidential approval and country direction polls

After a long period with in the negative column I have notice a shift in President's Obama job approval numbers to the positive side of the ledger. However, I have also noticed the a large majority of poll respondents continue to believe that the country is "on the wrong track".

I think that Obama's now positive numbers are good news for the Democratic nominee in the general election.

However, usually presidential approval and the direction of the country numbers go hand and hand. Does anyone have any ideas about why President Obama's numbers are going up and why the direction of the country numbers are still in deep negative territory?

Polls for Thursday, 3/24/16:

President Obama Job Approval:

Bloomberg Approve 50, Disapprove 44 Approve +6

Quinnipiac Approve 49, Disapprove 48 Approve +1

Gallup Approve 52, Disapprove 45 Approve +7

Rasmussen Reports Approve 50, Disapprove 49 Approve +1

Reuters/Ipsos Approve 45, Disapprove 50 Disapprove +5

Direction of Country

Reuters/Ipsos Right Direction 23, Wrong Track 64 Wrong Track +41

Bloomberg Right Direction 27, Wrong Track 65 Wrong Track +38

but I wonder if war weariness has something to do with it?

Perhaps it is the slowness of the recovery. People at the bottom haven't seen a lot of the improvements in the economy yet. That would definitely explain the Bernie support. He's the only candidate running that has a real vision about how to make things better. Hillary is all right, and I'll vote for her if she wins the nom, but she's really only saying that she'll be a continuation of what Obama has done, with a bit more aggressiveness in foreign policy, perhaps. I do like that she has adopted some of Bernie's rhetoric, but it's hard to trust that she'll take it to heart when/if she's elected.

The problem comes when people start making real choices at the ballot box. If they can't see how much the Repubs have been throwing wrenches in the gears over the past 7 years, they'll leave the same crap Congress in place, and we'll have more of the same no matter who occupies 16 Pennsylvania Ave. In any event, a Dem pres is mandatory, because giving a Rep-dominated Congress free rein from any vetoes is a recipe for disaster.
