We put our pets to sleep painlessly. We shoot horses. Why can't those sentenced to the death penalty be afforded the same?
In my opinion, the state has no business dealing in death for no other reason than to satisfy revenge or some outdated biblical nonsense. But if we must, lets do it in such a way as it is instantaneous, painless and public.
Let us have public executions again and it won't be long till the truly advanced, civilized among us do away with it entirely.
