I got to give away a home Saturday

Things just kind of fell in place. I was going to buy this nice trailer and rent it out. I was apprehensive because of my health and I would have to do what work it needed. So I talked to a friend in Nevada with end stage bone cancer for his opinion and we just bullshitted.. Well a week later a lady called and said that my friend had told HER about the home and we talked. Well she is 58 years old and has been living in a 10' X 20' storage shed all winter in Montana. With no indoor water and a wood stove. Plus she was baby sitting her granddaughter while he daughter was attending nursing school 4 days a week. So I contacted the guy I was thinking about buying it from and told him I wasn't interested but I knew a lady that was. I told him if she could sell a horse she could afford maybe a couple grand for the trailer. But I also told him about her living in a shack all winter and how hard she has had it and if it were me personally I would just give her the home. He said he thought it would do his heart to some good that day and agreed. She was robbed last year by a fly by night who was supposed to build her a small cabin cabin. He took 30 grand cash and disappeared. In all reality it didn't cost any of us to help this lady other than a few phone calls and being in the right place at the right time. P.S. there are thousands of pieces of property USABLE AND EMPTY in Montana but the property owners don't want the hassle to rent, so they sit and the mice love it.

I talked to her today and she said it didn't sink in until she got back to the storage shed and thought about it. She had a fear that she would be in the shack till she died.

at affordable rates? And does this situation exist in other Western states or is it unique to Montana?

The homes, the trailers, the lots that sit empty just blow my mind. Homeless need them. Renters that are paying insane rent prices could get for discount for fixing them up. There are so many options to house people.

Might they not be able to figure out a way to give these owners tax incentives for renting the places out?

There are six homes or pieces of property within a stones throw from my place, been empty for years. One sat for 3 years then greed got them 750 a month which is bull shit. Most of these people who own these properties are well off at the least.

I can imagine how cynical that family might be after such a horrible experience. How sad that law enforcement couldn't help them.

Blessings on you.

of time the law will take over. But right now it seems the guy fled the state. So she is just screwed.

just like the rest of America. I remember a formula of one week pay for one month rent when I was young. Now it's easily double that.
But rather than try and fix the housing problem our politicians in this state would rather waste their time and tax payer dollar ending the medical marijuana program for the sick.
