(24,692 posts)4. He is going '3rd party' on the GOP. Only question: from inside or from outside the party.
If he wins their nomination, their establishment will feel that his 'untraditional' views are not those of a 'real republican'. They will consider him a '3rd party' candidate who has 'stolen' their party's nomination, even if he runs as the official republican candidate.
The other possibility is that the republican establishment denies him the nomination. While it may be too late by late July to mount an effective '3rd party' campaign, he may attempt to do it from outside their party.
