Cruz is creepy and looks like he stepped out of a Bram Stoker novel and certainly doesn't have the "flair" (I am being nice) that Trump has, but Cruz appeals to many in the republican establishment and the evangelical, right-wing nutjobs . Trump appeals to the lazy, bigoted and, easily impressed non-thinkers who make Fox News so profitable.

So it is a toss-up. Who would be easier to defeat: the deranged, self-aggrandizing, bigoted carnival barker (Trump) or Nosfaratu's homely, bible-thumping cousin (Cruz)?

IF We bury our hatchets and come together, No PUMA's, no B or D's

We have a chance if we WORK and VOTE together to make this a wave election.

Finish the job of not destroying the Republican party but bringing it by stinging, total defeat back to some semblance of sanity...

There were quite a few "my candidate or none" in 2008, but in the end we rallied and won. I'm hopeful the same will happen this year, especially considering the absolutely terrifying alternatives.

As to the question -- I think they're both beatable. Trump may have "tv show charisma" but he is WAY underwater with both minorities and women. There is simply no shot in hell that he could capture the necessary 40% of the Latino vote needed to win. And Cruz is the kind of guy that you dislike the more that you know him. His positions are so extreme, and unlike Trump, he hasn't flip-flopped on any of them.

He's already alienated women (esp today) and minorities. Can't win an election without those groups.

He is a highly unattractive candidate who has just the fundie vote for the most part. Trump has fanatical followers who are not fundies as well as fundies.

The numbers favor Trump. Repubs will be bored with Cruz and stay home, we want that very much.

Trump, and his misogynistic ways, would keep even the Republican women from coming out in force for him. Then there's how he's being currently painted as "too liberal" by their party. There's no way that's not going to leave a mark.

Which doesn't even touch on how the Republican's are doing everything in their power to smear him right now. You cannot have a winning candidate for your party when the party has been trying to cut him off at the knees themselves. They've already done a lot of the hard work for the Dem candidate going to run against him!

writing's starting to appear on the wall -- RNC is going full speed ahead to diss DJT and probably go with Cruz in the general. of course, they're doing this in the most ham-fisted way possible, and DJT is actually correct that he's being treated unfairly by the RNC establishment. this leads to a possible indy run by DJT.

which is very good news for our presidential candidate, but not as helpful for our downticket prospects. still, there should be some coat tail leftovers, especially if the RNC manages to alienate Trump supporters from the party completely.

Trump has nearly fatal unfavorables with women, but he's likely to run an unconventional campaign which will be harder to respond to. Cruz is more popular with traditional Republicans voting blocks, but he'll run a conventional conservative/Tea Party campaign.

If Trump is not the nominee, none of his supporters will show up.

And rankin file GOPers still hate Cruz.

They are literally choosing between a puke and a crap sandwich.

And Trump's likely to mount a third party run, which will further spoil the republican ticket. Also, Cruz has more negatives that will actually turn off the average voter, and he's too much of a "True Believer" for the GOP establishment, even though his wife does do business for Goldman Sachs.. I suspect a brokered convention, though - with Ryan or Kasich ending up the GOP nominee. And that will destroy the party.

Cruz will get the evangelicals very fired up, preachers will stump for him, etc. Still either is easy to beat, but in no way can we become complacent, we have to get out the vote especially for the sake of all down ticket Democrats and progressives.

Hillary would beat either, probably even from jail. Sanders would be a landslide of historic proportions. No worries as long as we do our best to GOTV!
