Jason Kander shows that good government starts with the small things

You know who hates public libraries? The Koch brothers. You know who likes public libraries? This Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Missouri.

Local libraries in Northeast Missouri received grants recently from the office of Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander.
The Hannibal Free Public Library received a grant in the amount of $3,937 to promote summer reading programs. The funds will be used to conduct a nine-week program for all ages with a special focus on new parents and their babies and residents in assisted living facilities. […]

Kander also announced that the Marion County Library received a technology grant in the amount of $3,176 to ad[d] one public use printer/copier/fax/scanner.
Kander is taking on Republican Sen. Roy Blunt and his mediocre approval rating. Maybe if Blunt did things to improve people's lives in simple ways, like making their libraries more helpful, he'd be doing better than 25 percent with his constituents. The little things often matter, a lot.
