[NEWS RELEASE] BP clinches Deepwater Horizon tax break...

ASHINGTON, D.C. — A federal judge in Louisiana finalized a $20 billion civil settlement between BP, the Justice Department, and the five states of the Gulf Coast. Despite protests from both Congress and a broad coalition of environmental groups, the final settlement will allow BP to deduct a majority of the costs as an ordinary business expense.

Friends of the Earth Climate and Energy Campaigner Lukas Ross issued the following statement in response:

We are saddened to learn that the gross negligence of BP continues to enjoy taxpayer subsidies. Treating the worst oil spill in U.S. history as an ordinary and necessary business expense boggles the mind. Nearly six years to the day since this tragedy began to unfold, it is clear that we have still failed to learn all the lessons of the Deepwater Horizon.

Making the American taxpayer pick up BP's bill for cleaning the disastrous Deepwater Horizon spill is an outrage.

No, one man cannot fix everything. But at least he knows what is wrong and what needs to be fixed - and is not complicit and enabling.

First We the People get to pick up the bill for all the Warmongers.

Then, We the People get to pick up the bill for all the Banksters.

Of course now, We the People get to pick up the tab for the Oil Company that destroyed the Gulf. Of Mexico, not the oil company.

What's different now is that We the People know what they do with the money they steal from us.

No matter the horrific environmental depradation, the lost livelihoods, etc.

What matters is that "they" take care of their own, and that the convenient sleepwalking known as business as usual continue undisturbed in its bliss.

God, you libruls are just never satisfied, are you? Hasn't BP suffered enough? Must they pay and pay for their honest mistakes, mistakes that any one of you could have made? Sure a bunch of guys got killed, and an ecosystem was made uninhabitable for a while, and may never recover. But Tony Hayward just wants his life back, and you hard-hearted bastards just can't let it go. Can't we all just pitch in and help out? And by "all," BP means you.

We should ALL write our CongressCretins and ask them what they think. When we get the usual platitudes back (as I'm sure I will as McCaskill is my Senator) our response should be

Yeah...and THAT'S why I'm voting for Bernie.
