Drip, drip, drip. More HB2 fallout - Lionsgate moving TV show production out of NC

http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/business/lionsgate-north-carolina-bc-hb2-1.3522818

Movie studio Lionsgate has moved the filming of one of its new TV shows out of North Carolina and into British Columbia after the U.S. state passed a law that cracks down on rights for gay and particularly transgender people.

Lionsgate was set to film a new Hulu series called Crushed in the Charlotte, N.C., area about a family in the wine business. Preproduction was to begin this month, with filming starting in May, but the studio informed local employees that the production would be scrapped and moved to B.C., the Charlotte Observer reported this week.

A local news outlet reported the move would cost North Carolina 100 jobs.

Charlotte native here.

I hope that people in NC take note of how this is damaging not only NC's economy, but their reputation. Such as it is.
I now think of my own home state as being on par with Mississippi in their backwardness.

What difference can one little letter make? What difference can one little bad law make?

Paypal, Lionsgate.... I'm not usually fond of corporate activism but in this case we'll take what we can.

their friends. We still are a tribal society to a certain extent. You harm one, they all react. These Religious Wack Jobs just do not get it. But,it sure is evident they use the principle that "I got mine and you are not going to get any of it". When the Charlotte Observer is affected by the loss of their Professional Sports Advertisement when these Franchises fold or bail, then and only then will they speak up.

Our GOTV efforts will be in overdrive - it's the most effective way to reverse the damage they have done to this state before the stain and stench becomes permanent. Our state is better than this.

It might affect others, but lets not forget our privilege, the most harm is done to our Trans brothers and sisters and their families.

Ironically, the city pushing hardest to poach it is Atlanta, which would be in the same boat if not for Gov. Deal's veto of Georgia's homophobic bill.

and we deserved it. If your state wants rights to deny American citizens the rights to be American citizens, the rest of the country has an absolute right to isolate you and not beat a path to your door.

exclaiming their prejudices. If you're white, and of a certain age, it seems they just assume that you share their views. A few minutes of earwiggin' ought to do the trick.
