Anaconda man involved in federal standoff remains behind bars

BUTTE - ... Ryan Payne will stay behind bars for his participation in the standoff until at least his trial is over. That is pursuant to a federal Order of Detention citing flight risk and maintaining the safety of others as the reason.

An emergency order was recently filed by Payne’s public defender to prevent U.S. Marshalls from transporting him to Nevada ... The judge granted that request so for now Payne will remain in Oregon to face his charges there.

... According to a joint statement filed on March 31, the U.S. government and defense seem to disagree on several of trial related issues specifically when it comes to the voir dire process. A status conference to try and sort out some of the issues is on calendar for April 6 ...
