Meet the male student who says he suffers periods when his female flatmate does

Not The Onion!!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/35977710/meet-the-male-student-who-says-he-suffers-periods-when-his-female-flatmate-does

George Fellowes is a 22-year-old university student and believes he gets what he describes as "a male period".

He says he's so close to his best friend and flatmate Amber-May Ellis that he gets cramps when she comes on each month....

"I get pain in my lower abdomen and in the groin area. I get super moody, really erratic and angry with most of my friends.

"I also get emotional. I'm not really one for a cry but during that time of the month I'm an emotional wreck."

Hmmmm. I wouldn't be surprised if he were trans.

I have known women to "sync" after being together for a while, my sisters do every time they are together in vacation even when some are "off" on their "time". Perhaps its an estrogen thing and this particular male has enough to make him sensitive to his flatmate's cycle. I wonder if studies have been done or if anyone is thinking of conducting one.

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps the flat mate's cycle affects him as well as their cycle started syncing?

Ugh... Google is no help.
I was trying to search for an old article I've read about how there was this woman who most of her life she thought she was a man, until the doctor found out she was a woman.

I am having such a hard time looking for that article, since no matter how I word it, it brings me to the wrong thing. Some of them are embarrassing to even mention.

perhaps less biological and more a physical reaction to the stress perceived when rommie was having hers.

amber must be so happy about all the attention...... suspect his cramps will get worse.

i cramp up the night before a big road trip which i am sure is more information than anyone here wants or needs

That's just my opinion as a woman. Other women may feel differently.

And this part here -

"I get super moody, really erratic and angry with most of my friends"

Seriously? That's just a wee bit too much of a stereotype for me.

Reminds me of my first OB-GYN who kept telling he "knows" how painful ovulating can be - which it is for many women, myself included. And the man wasn't saying he knows it can hurt - he was telling me he knows how it hurts.

No. No, no, no, no, no.

Nope. Nyet. Nein. Nuh-uh.

No dude, maybe you're just a jerk.

(I had the painful ovulation thing too. So glad that's all behind me now.)

Just with different hormones in different amounts, and obviously no menses. Since we're the same animal with a just some minor differences, it always made sense.

I have NO idea whether it's true or not.

I'm a guy, don't live with a woman and I can get super moody and angry without having to blame it on a woman and I can do it way faster than a monthly cycle.

Or maybe the guy is just a dumbass.

I lived with 3 girls for 3 years in college AND had a girlfriend. Yes I remember their cycles were pretty synced up. My only symptoms were "Get the hell out of there for about 3 or 4 days" during their periods.
