A possible candidate for a third party might be the scariest one yet!

Last edited Fri Apr 8, 2016, 10:10 PM - Edit history (1)

James Mattis, a retired Marine General is being vetted by a few millionaires for a possible candidate as a 3rd party in the presidential race. Let's hope it doesn't come to that? He maybe highly decorated as soldier, but as a president, many more questions out there?

Mattis is a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School, U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the National War College. Mattis is also noted for his intellectualism and interest in military history,[10] with a personal library that once included over 7,000 volumes,[1] and a penchant for publishing required reading lists for Marines under his command.[32][33] He has never been married and has no children.[1] He is nicknamed "The Warrior Monk" because he devoted his life to studying and fighting war.[34]

The candidate (I'm trying to remember what they were running for...I do remember they were the best candidate of a mangy lot) managed to distribute stickers with his (might have been a her--this was decades ago) name printed on them. All you had to do was peel off the name and stick it on the ballot. The stickers were designed to fit in the Write In box.

The write in won. It can happen.

On a national scale, though? That would be a challenge.

You can pay to get on the ballot too in a lot of places--that can get expensive. You would need PACs to cough up the money.

to the house, and if that was the case, the republican candidate would be the president, because the house is controlled by the republicans

is that he enlisted in the USMC yet he had no service in Vietnam....

The late 60's were the height of the Vietnam War and the USMC was cannon fodder...

According to Wikipedia, his library is 1,000 volumes....
