Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) missed a hearing on veterans issues in August because she was surfing with a reporter who was producing a profile of the freshman congresswoman, the Honolulu Civil Beat reported.
She later used the video associated with the profile as part of a fundraising appeal.
Gabbard was scheduled to attend a field hearing being held in Honolulu by the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee addressing issues with the Veteran Health Administration. Gabbard was shown leaving the shore at 9:15 a.m. in the video, which was produced by Yahoo News. The meeting was set to begin at 10 a.m.
One of the panelists at the hearing was Wayne Pfeffer, the director of the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System, who Gabbard had previously demanded be fired.
When asked previously why Gabbard did not appear at the panel, the congresswomans office had not mentioned that she was surfing with reporter Chris Moody. Her spokeswoman told the Civil Beat, an online news outlet, that the Yahoo News crew had gotten stuck in traffic, delaying the shoot and causing her to miss most of the meeting.

(3,660 posts)Well she did. Then video showed she lied.
Similar to her public lies to unions about fighting the Colombia Free Trade Agreement - which were proven when her emails were released showing she secretly lobbied for it.

(3,660 posts)That's ok though, many Hillary followers prefer to just misrepresent Bernie's statements and actions instead of see the truth.
Enjoy.

(3,457 posts)Barack Obama missed 89.4 of his votes during the last quarter of 2007 while he was a U.S. senator running for president
Then-Senator Hillary Clinton missed 83.5 per cent of her votes in the same quarter
During the months she was running for president in 2008, Hillary missed 68.4 per cent of her votes overall, faring worse than Obama's 64.3 per cent

(8,760 posts)This was a Senate hearing, so it wasn't her job.....she simply wanted to be there.
I remember when Republicans attacked Max Cleland, who lost both legs and an arm in Vietnam.
Do Hillary supporters have no sense of decency?

(135,425 posts)She's not the only one.
That doesn't mean we're allowed to get a pass when we come home, take on other jobs, and make promises to other people.
I don't think even she would approve of you playing the "She's a vet so she gets a pass" card. That's low as hell!
When Lindsay Graham skips out on shit, can he play HIS "vet card" too?
And trying to compare her fucking around surfing with a reporter and not showing up for work to Max Cleland????? HOW low will you go???? That takes the cake.

(3 posts)She held her own House meetings with vets on all the Hawaiian islands before that.
None of the Hillary supporter politicians in Hawaii attended her meetings.
The only reason this old story is being raked up is because she's supporting Bernie now

(20,176 posts)The level of character assassination being directed at Rep. Gabbard by Clinton supporters and surrogates is beginning to border on the surreal.
It's like they cannot accept that there are Democrats in America who think Clinton is a bad candidate that will make a bad President and aren't supporting her for that reason; they feel the need to attack anybody that doesn't support her, supports anybody else or runs against her...on a personally-vindictive level.

(38 posts)So they're trying to attack Sanders surrogate Tulsi Gabbard with baseless attacks.
The story referred to her was a BS story based on the absurd premise that members of the US House of Representatives like Congresswoman Gabbard are supposed to attend US Senate hearings, and if they dont then theyre neglecting their responsibilities.
Obviously, the writers fail to understand that members of the U.S. HOUSE are responsible for taking part in U.S. HOUSE HEARINGS, and U.S. SENATORS are supposed to take part in certain U.S. SENATE HEARINGS or vice versa.
So the idea that Tulsi did something wrong because she missed a US Senate hearing when she is not even a US Senator is absurd on its face.
But of course reporters often ignore facts for sensational headlines. And of course Clinton's team is desperate so they dig up crap and try to sling it and hope it sticks.
